BABM Celebrates Year One
with Gratitude
…and we’ve only just begun
At a time when most publishing experts would advise
against launching a new print magazine, BABM put on
blinders and inserted ear plugs to forge forward with a
mission to educate, support and inspire business owners
and emerging entrepreneurs. At a time when the economy
appears to be struggling, BABM is here to arm our
readers with information and inspiration to maintain and
build their businesses.
BABM celebrates its one year anniversary this month. As
the owner, publisher and editor, I admit that I thrive
on challenges. Most entrepreneurs do. As a mid-range
baby boomer, launching a new business in an industry
that I knew little about, with a mission I was 100%
passionate about, I’m ready for the next rung on the
ladder. Just as
Deirdre
Cavener of Kiss Marketing never gave up, even when
she had to resort to food stamps --- just as
Jackie Tuozzo
had one curve after another thrown at her --- and just
as John Faulkner’s lack of scholastic degrees was
overridden by the power of his vision ---- BABM and
yours truly are here to stay.
In fact, BABM is expanding in every media area with the
focus on becoming the premiere business resource. for
the Bay Area. In the past year our readers have enjoyed
our print BABM, BABM.com and most recently eBABM, our
free newsletter that is delivered twice a month. We are
proud to announce the launch of BABMSearch.com, a
business to business search engine. (See page 25)
Recently I heard someone say that his immigrant father
had told him many times while growing up in Cuba that
the United States had “streets lined with opportunity.”
I found that statement interesting because most of us
have heard it as “streets lined with gold.” This was a
wise lesson for the young man as it taught him that
having opportunity is far more important. With
opportunity one can create any life he wants. One can
choose everyday if he is going to participate in the
naysayer’s gloom and doom. With opportunity, a
passionate entrepreneur with a clear vision can embark
on a business venture whether at age 25, 40, 56, 62 or
beyond.
So, Bill Murphy
--- welcome to the exciting, exhilarating, endeavor of
entrepreneurship! You are in excellent company.
