Letter from the New CEO of Tampa Bay Technology Forum: Heather Kenyon

The Tampa Bay Technology Forum has held a very near and dear place to my heart since I began working for the organization in 2003. Although I left in 2008, I was excited and honored to be able to interview and eventually be awarded the position of CEO in November 2011.

I have many objectives for next year, all of which have to do with improving the environment for technology in the region. You are going to see a lot of exciting changes in 2012, such as new programming, enhanced partnerships, a focus on sponsor and member value and a laser focus on making the connection between the technology jobs that are available with a workforce that has the skills to fill them.

What does this mean specifically? It means a greater focus on working closely with other groups and regional organizations that have similar missions so that we all succeed together. It means taking a look at each one of our programs and peer networks to ensure they have value. It means working closely with the universities and our member companies to encourage the hiring of interns and provide awareness of the great companies that are here so that graduates don't leave the area. It also means providing connections so entrepreneurs have the resources they need to succeed. But most of all, it means being a passionate, dedicated, raving fan and advocate for the Tampa Bay technology industry and all of the wonderful people that comprise it.

I want to thank the board for expressing their faith in me and allowing me to have the best job in the world, and I also want to thank all of the people that sent wonderful notes, texts, e-mails and phone calls to express their enthusiasm and support. I look forward to working with all of you in 2012!

Sincerely,
Heather Kenyon
