Meet Bevv Beirl - CEO / Editor in Chief of BABM

“My unwavering belief in untapped human potential has led me to the soapbox on many occasions.  In fact, I actually used to carry my soapbox with me.  BABM has become my 21st century soapbox with the mission to educate, support and inspire business owners and emerging entrepreneurs in Tampa Bay.”

Bevv Beirl is the founder and CEO of Bay Area Business Magazine, LLC, dba, BABM Business Group.  BABM’s mission is to educate, support and inspire small to midsize business owners and emerging entrepreneurs.  Bevv’s personal passions are empowering people to become all that they can be, inspiring the brave and talented to take control of their destination, and creating a ground swell of powerful entrepreneurs who will insure free enterprise and capitalism in our communities and nation. This may sound ambitious and maybe that should be her middle name.

From a long line of entrepreneurs on both sides of the family the “never give up” philosophy was instilled in her at an early age. She was influenced by her dad’s Scottish heritage, filled with inventors, business owners, franchise owners and real estate investors.  On her Mom’s side was a proud Cherokee and German tradition that created restaurant and auto repair shop owners.  Bevv learned at a very early age that working for someone was only the stepping stone to owning your own business. She witnessed the launching of several successful businesses that were her family’s only source of income.

Bevv graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education/Psychology.  She continued her education with an Associate in Science/ Interior Design Technology from St. Petersburg College.  Bevv also completed several certification programs in exercise physiology and nutrition from the Cooper Institute of Aerobic Research in Dallas, Texas. In her mid-forties she earned a 1st degree black belt in martial arts.

For the last 30+ years Bevv has been published in trade journals, newspapers, magazines and newsletters.  She’s been the keynote and motivational speaker for more than thirty companies and organizations including, Honeywell Organization of Women, Florida Power, Morton Plant Hospital, Acordia of Central Florida, Fox Network Female Reporters, Hugh O’Brian Youth Foundation, WEDU, and Legacy for Life International Conference.

In addition to launching and owning several for profit businesses, Bevv also founded and launched SAGE a 501 (c)(3) non profit organization that trained and educated women in self defense and rape prevention.  SAGE was awarded a $100,000 grant for 3 consecutive years from the U.S. Department of Health and trained more than 10,000 young girls and women in the Tampa Bay area during that time.

Bevv is a current member of Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB), Ohio State University Alumni Association, SPC Alumni Association, PACE Believing in Girls Society, and past member of International Coaching Federation and Belleair Rotary Club.

In 2008 Bevv was a finalist for the Tampa Bay Business Journal’s Business Woman of the Year award.

BABM Business Group is a culmination of Bevv’s talents, degrees and entrepreneurial successes.  Launching her first business at age 16 (ironing shirts and wrapping gifts during the holidays) through many successful businesses and the launch of BABM 39 years later, Bevv has faced and overcome just about every obstacle a business owner may encounter.  She will be the first to tell you that the challenges never go away regardless of one’s success and the challenges are actually the catalyst for success.

A visionary, outside the box thinker and a person who hates to be told something is impossible, Bevv understands how important it is to be flexible, agile and creative to survive and flourish in this fast paced business world.  

As the leader of BABM Business Group, she practices the inherited traits of a strong work ethic, frugality and the ability to surround and accept advice from experienced advisors.
