Self Development Best Practices

What Millionaires Know ... and Do!

by Bevv Beirl

In April we talked about defining what you really, really want and creating a mission statement of 10 or fewer words. You should be able to spout off your mission at any moment, even if awakened from a dead sleep. Your mission/wants statement should become a part of your very fiber. Millionaires know this!

Millionaires know a lot of things and interestingly enough, most of us know the same things. You know the millionaires’ secrets, so why aren’t you a millionaire?
Simply said, because millionaires DO what they know works. They not only take action, they take daily, consistent and directed actions that will move them toward their goals. They do the things that others are not willing or are too lazy to do. And guess what? It works.

Is there a shortcut? Yes. Ask anyone who is wildly successful if they could give you a shortcut and they will tell you: “Do something you love. If you don’t love what you are doing, you will never reach your financial and personal goals.” People like Bill Gates, Donald Trump, Warren Buffet, and Oprah don’t have to work another day in their life; in fact they could live two lifetimes and never have to work again! And yet they are just as involved and active in their businesses today as they were when they began. They love what they do!

First generation millionaires understand that they must create a game they know they can win. They must create a game that they love. Every game has rules but let’s call them principles. If you follow the principles of “your” game, you are bound to win. And interestingly enough, no matter the game you create, the principles are the same.

The principles can be divided into two categories. There are personal principles and there are business principles and they are equally important to obtaining financial and personal abundance.

The personal principles include:

  • Dream Big Dreams

  • See Yourself as Self-Employed

  • Develop a Clear Sense of Direction

  • Dedicate Yourself to Lifelong Learning

  • Unlock Your Inborn Creativity

  • Never Allow Failure to be an Option

  • Take Excellent Care of Your Physical Health

For you analytical types out there, these personal principles may sound a little airy-fairy or unrelated to business, however, make no mistake, every self-made millionaire practices all of them.

The business principles include:

  • Commit to Excellence

  • Dedicate Yourself to Serving Others

  • Learn Every Detail of the Business

  • Pay Yourself First

  • Work Smarter Instead of Harder

  • Set Priorities and Concentrate Single-Mindedly

  • Develop a Reputation for Speed and Dependability

  • Surround Yourself with the Right People

  • Be Decisive and Action-Oriented

  • Be Persistent

So let’s recap. To be outrageously successful and create abundance in your life, get clear on what you really want and compose your personal mission statement. After you have your mission burned into your subconscious mind, take the first short cut, and do something you love. Create your game around something that excites you, engages your creative juices and you know you can win. Follow the personal and business principles that millionaires live by.

And oh, I almost forgot, there is a universal law that if understood and practiced will guarantee your success! But alas, I’m out of time and space. So we’ll get to that next time. Until then, your goals are waiting, so get excited about your rediscovered knowledge and as Nike says, “Just DO it”!
